Huracán Performante and STO Asks Are Up, but Mostly Because of Which Cars Are for Sale

Median US/Canada asking prices for the Huracán Performante coupe and STO are up about 11% and 8% since Sep 7. Track the same cars, though, and most of the rise comes from pricier new listings, not sellers raising prices.

The middle of the market for the two hardest-edged V10 Huracáns has moved up since early September. On Sep 7, the median asking price across the Huracán Performante coupes we track in the US and Canada was about $387,750. On Oct 16 it was $429,991, up about 11%, with most of that jump coming in October. The median Huracán STO ask went from $489,991 to $529,900 over the same stretch, up about 8%, in a steadier climb.

Those are asking prices, not sale prices or valuations. And when we followed the same cars from one date to the other, the picture changed.

Same cars, different story

A median only tells you about the cars listed that day. So we matched every car that was for sale on both Sep 7 and Oct 16, using its VIN or the same listing.

  • Performante coupe: 12 cars were listed on both dates. Not one asked more. Six cut their price, by roughly 3% to 9%, and six didn't change. The typical car on both lists is asking about 1.5% less than in September.
  • STO: 11 cars were listed on both dates. Six asked more, two asked less and three didn't change, but the typical change was under half a percent. One 2024 STO in Texas went from $469,000 to $549,000, and a 2022 car that moved to a different dealer came back about $110,000 higher. The other raises were 3% or less.

So most of the rise comes from turnover: which cars are listed, not owners raising prices. Of the Performante coupes listed in September, 10 are no longer listed, and they had a median ask of about $392,000. The 15 that showed up since have a median ask of about $451,000. The STO did the same thing on a bigger scale: 16 cars dropped off at a median of about $495,000, and 24 newer listings came in at a median of about $530,000.

What it means

The STO is the closer call. A handful of sellers really did push their prices up, and the newer cars are asking more. The Performante median is up because of the mix. Sellers who stuck around have been trimming, and the pricier cars that came on in October pulled the median up. When cars are listed and then gone, that can mean they sold, but it can also just mean they were pulled, so this isn't proof of where Huracáns are trading. Higher-priced cars coming to market means dealers think buyers will pay more. Whether buyers do is the next thing to watch.

If you're shopping, look at the specific car and how long it's been listed, not the headline median. Would you buy now, or wait?
