Porsche revealed the Mission S concept in New York on Oct 15, previewing its first permanent model line above the 911, with gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid power planned and no full EV.
Porsche officially revealed the Mission S on Oct 15, 2026, on a pier in Queens, New York. It's a concept, which Porsche calls a vision model, and it previews something Porsche has never had: a permanent mid-engined model line above the 911. CEO Michael Leiters describes it as "not as a one-off hypercar, but as a permanent and versatile addition" to the range (Porsche Newsroom).
Porsche hasn't named an engine yet. After the reveal it told Car and Driver that the future line will support gasoline engines plus hybrid and plug-in hybrid options, with no fully electric version. The show car is full of details aimed at drivers: a rear cooling fan that nods to the 917 race car, no center screen (a holder lets your phone do that job), five round gauges behind the wheel and a physical aluminum key to the left of the steering wheel.
Price and timing are not official. Car and Driver estimates the line could start around $500,000 and expects it in 2029 at the earliest. Those are the magazine's estimates, not Porsche figures.
At about $500,000 the new car would sit well above the sticker of any 911, including the GT3 RS and Turbo S, and below the 918 Spyder-style limited halo cars. That makes it a new rung above the 911. But the hottest 911s already trade near that level: the median asking price we recorded for a 992 GT3 RS on Oct 11 was about $511,000. Once buyers can order a mid-engined Porsche for similar money, the premium on upper-trim 911s is the thing to watch. We'll track GT3 RS and Turbo S prices on our Porsche dashboard as details firm up.
Would you take it over a GT3 RS?
