Two Ford GTs sold four minutes apart on Bring a Trailer, just $135,000 apart. The original is closing in on the new one.
Is the original Ford GT about to be worth more than the new one? Not yet, but it's getting close.
On Tuesday, Oct 20, 2026, Bring a Trailer sold two Ford GTs just four minutes apart. A 738-mile 2020 Ford GT Carbon Series sold for $950,000. Then a 2,000-mile 2005 Ford GT with all four factory options sold for $815,000. That's a gap of $135,000 between a 20-year-old car with a stick shift and a nearly new carbon-bodied one.
Both prices are BaT winning bids, before its buyer's fee.
Here's the fun part. We looked at public auction sales over the past two years, from October 2024 through October 2026:
So the distance between the two generations shrank from about $424,000 to about $151,000. Special editions like the Heritage and Liquid Carbon cars are a separate story and aren't counted here.
The newer car still costs more, at auction and at dealers. These are small groups of sales, and one extra bidder can move a result a lot. But the original GT, with its supercharged V8 and six-speed manual, is the one collectors are chasing right now.
