A race car for the road

The second-generation Ford GT was built by Multimatic in Markham, Ontario, and a race version won its class at Le Mans in 2016. It has a carbon-fiber tub, active aerodynamics, a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V6 and a 216 mph top speed. Ford planned 1,000 cars, then extended the run to about 1,350 because demand was more than seven times supply. Buyers had to apply and agree not to resell for 24 months, and Ford sued John Cena when he sold his early. The special editions are the rarest: ’66 Heritage (27 built), ’67 Heritage (39), ’68 Gulf Heritage (50), ’69 Gulf Heritage (50), ’66 Daytona Heritage (50), ’64 Prototype Heritage (27), Alan Mann Heritage (30), Holman Moody Heritage (21) and the final LM Edition (20). Low mileage matters here too.
