One of the cheapest Ferrari 812 GTSs for sale in the US just got cheaper. A 2021 812 GTS at Exotics Hunter in Boca Raton, Florida is now listed at $699,997, down from $710,997. It's finished in Blu Tour de France over Tortora (light brown) leather, has 8,298 miles and, according to its Bring a Trailer listing, about $107,000 in factory options. Only two 812 GTSs in the US are listed for less today, and both have more miles.
The latest cut is small. The full history isn't. According to the price history CarGurus shows for this listing, the dealer started at $895,997 on Aug 20 and has cut it six times since:
- Aug 20: $895,997
- Aug 26: $820,997
- Aug 29: $805,997
- Sep 7: $749,997
- Oct 13: $720,997
- Oct 20: $710,997
- Nov 3: $699,997 (first seen in our data on Nov 3)
That's $196,000 off in about 10 weeks. In between, the dealer tried an auction. The car was on Bring a Trailer until Oct 12, when it was bid to $626,000 after 43 bids and didn't sell because it missed its reserve. Even after the latest cut, the asking price is $73,997 more than that top bid.
For context, the 2021 812 GTS started at a base price of $404,494, according to Car and Driver, before options. So even at $699,997, this car is asking well over its original sticker price.
It's not just one car
We started tracking 812 GTS listings across Ferrari Approved dealers, Classic.com, CarGurus, Cars.com and duPont REGISTRY on Sep 15. Counting each car once, here's the typical (middle) asking price for 812 GTSs listed in the US:
- Sep 15: about $899,900 across 126 cars ($619,675 to $1,399,990)
- Oct 4: about $869,900 across 138 cars ($597,650 to $1,375,340)
- Oct 19: about $850,100 across 139 cars ($589,996 to $1,325,990)
- Nov 3: about $840,000 across 143 cars ($629,996 to $1,250,594)
That's about $59,900, or 6.7%, lower in seven weeks. Some of that is new, cheaper cars arriving, but the same-car numbers say the same thing. Of the 98 812 GTSs that have been listed the whole time since Sep 15, 86 have had their price cut, 8 went up and 4 haven't changed. The typical cut on those 86 cars was $66,956, about 6.9%. The middle asking price of those same 98 cars fell from about $899,900 to about $850,100.
The cuts have slowed lately. Since Oct 19, 61 of 125 continuing cars were cut, typically by about $20,000.
By model year
- 2021: about $785,400 across 49 cars, down from about $849,900 on Sep 15 (43 cars).
- 2022: about $851,000 across 57 cars, down from about $919,000 (48 cars).
- 2023: about $900,000 across 37 cars, down from about $940,000 (35 cars).
So the Boca Raton car is asking about $85,400 less than a typical 2021 812 GTS, though it also has more miles than most.
Auctions moved first
Bring a Trailer buyers were already paying less. Of the 10 812 GTS auctions we tracked on Bring a Trailer in October, only four sold:
- A 2,200-mile 2022 car for $735,000 on Oct 2 (listing).
- A 4,400-mile 2021 car for $678,000 at no reserve on Oct 20 (listing).
- A 985-mile 2023 car for $801,000 on Oct 21 (listing). The same car was bid to $950,000 on Aug 28, but that sale fell through.
- A 578-mile 2023 car for $767,000 on Oct 30 (listing).
The other six stopped short of their reserves, with top bids from $626,000 to $825,000. One of them shows how far things have moved. A 4,400-mile 2022 812 GTS in Dallas sold on Bring a Trailer for $853,000 on Jul 24, then came back and was bid to only $715,000 on Oct 29. That's $138,000 less for the same car three months later.
Cars with similar miles to the Boca Raton car sold for $710,000 (7,000 miles, Aug 25) and $735,000 (7,000 miles, Sep 2) at the end of summer. In October, this car's top bid was $626,000.
Analysis
Our take
Yes, 812 GTS asking prices really are coming down. It's broad, with nearly nine in ten long-listed cars cut, and it's steady rather than a crash: about 7% in seven weeks. Dealers are following auction results down after a big summer run-up.
But asking prices are still ahead of what buyers are paying. The typical ask is about $840,000, while October's four Bring a Trailer sales ranged from $678,000 to $801,000. Until that gap closes, we expect more cuts.
Analysis
What it means for buyers
- Use sold results, not asking prices. Recent 812 GTS sales are well below most dealer asks.
- Check the history. Cars that missed their reserve at auction often come back as dealer listings, and the top bid tells you what buyers would actually pay.
- Long-listed cars have room. A car that has been for sale since August and cut six times is a car the dealer wants to move.
